Started this past Sunday off right with a trail run on the amazing Buttermilk trails on the James River. Since I took too much of a vacation last week, this was my first run since last Monday, but I’m getting back on track. Most of the time I can depend on getting a good trail run in on Sundays thanks to a running group that meets up at 8am. The core of the group is really close and I have been lucky to jump into that crew, aka my RVA running crew. Sometime in the near future I will discuss our adventures for one of the Ragnar Trail Relays in Georgia and why ‘flip it over’ has become our favorite inside joke.

Eventually I will have a few of them write guest posts, something I may regret, but should be entertaining. Our Sunday loop typically consists of a figure 8 about 5-6 miles long, with a few runners tacking on additional miles. Those who decide against the extra milage can meet up at a local coffee shop Crossroads, for a post run coffee, smoothie and/or amazing BLT. This past Sunday I skipped the coffee, as I had to prepare for a fantasy football draft starting that afternoon. The draft was awesome, but even better than the draft was the free food.

First lunch we had pizza, cubed steak and chips/dips. Midway through the draft we took a break and had 2nd lunch. 2nd lunch consisted of BBQ from a slow-cooker, that had not been ready earlier, but the wait was worth it. After the draft I continued to grub. A member of the RVA running crew is a top dog at a local restaurant, and he was hosting an end of summer party with a ton of free food. There was also a ton of pumpkin beer, everyone seemed to bring it in, strongly suggesting that fall is nearby. Most of the running group was there so we discussed upcoming races, past runs and even this blog, while drinking some pumpkin stuff I could not pronounce. So to wrap up, it was a successful Sunday Funday; filled with running, good friends, free food, and pumpkin beer.
